Theatre Artist and Educator

I am an artist and a teacher.

I was raised in Tkaronto/Toronto by Czech immigrant parents, and am now based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. I am currently a Part-Time Faculty member at Concordia University and have also taught performance practices at McGill University and Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. I create and lead embodiment workshops with the goal of sharing performance-training tools to affectionately bring together mind and body. Practices that I draw from are the Six Viewpoints, somatic practices including Body-Mind Centering®, and contemplative approaches to creation. To deepen my pedagogical work, I am currently collaborating with members of the international Viewpoints community to explore how the Viewpoints can support the values of equity, diversity and inclusion while teaching diverse student communities. In my own artistic work, I use somatic movement and improvisational forms to explore and challenge perceived boundaries between performance and reality. As founder of the Habitat Practice Group, I work with a group of artist-scholars to sustain long-term embodied inquiries that support our individual/collective artistic processes and well-being. With support from the Québec government and the Canada Council for the Arts, I am also currently pursuing advanced somatic training in Body-Mind Centering® and applying my findings to the development of new artistic and educational works.
